Obituary of Jane F. Corl

Jane F. "Marie" Corl, 94, of Syracuse died Monday. The daughter of W. James and Aida Belmer King, she was a graduate of Syracuse Central High School, Class of 1938. A commercial artist, she worked in many media from pastels to watercolors to fabric, and won a number of awards for her work over the years. During World War II she operated a drill press at CeneSimplex, working on the Norden Bomb Sight. She worked for many years and was in charge of the counter at the Baker's Chicken Coop stand at the NYS Fair. She was an avid bowler and golfer until she lost her eyesight. She married John M. "Jack" Corl in 1941 and raised three children. Marie loved and was a member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Liverpool, where she served as Parish Warden a number of times. The family is grateful for the love and care provided by Mother Carrie and her friends at St. Matthew's. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Jack, and her brothers W. James King Jr., Albert M. King and Kenneth King. Survivors: sons, The Rev. Dr. James A. Corl of Auburn, NY, and Kenneth G. Corl of Rochester, NY; a daughter, Patricia I. Corl of Mesquite, TX; 7 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Services: 10:00am Tuesday at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Liverpool, NY. Burial will be 2pm Tuesday in Glenwood Cemetery, Homer, NY. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 pm Monday at Tindall Funeral Home, 1921 W Genesee St, Syracuse, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 904 Vine St., Liverpool, NY 13088.
