James "Boxcar" Forger Sr., 82, of Fairmount passed away Saturday, at St. Joseph's Hospital. Born in Syracuse, he was a graduate of Solvay High School and a veteran of the US Navy. He was retired from Allied Chemical, Syracuse Ladder, RE Dietz and the Camillus Highway Department. Jim was a member of the American Legion, Fairmount Fire Department, Fairmount Volunteer Exempt Firemen's Benevolent Assoc., Onondaga County Volunteer Fireman's Assoc., CNY Fireman's Assoc., and FASNY. He was predeceased by his wife, Dolores Forger; sisters, Elizabeth (William) Cole and Helen (David) Bookman; brother, Harold (Rose) Forger. Survivors: sons, James Jr. of Rochester and Jeffrey (Kathy) of Oswego; daughter, Rebecca (Joseph) of NYC; nephew, Mark Forger and nieces, Breanna, Kayliegh and Marissa Forger. Sister, Jeanette (Benjamin) Whitmore; sister in law, Carol Orzell; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, nephews, and cousins. Services: 10 a.m. Thursday at Tindall Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will be in Belle Isle Cemetery. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Tindall Funeral Home, 1921 W Genesee St. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Heart Association, PO Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220 or Fairmount Fire Department, 4611 W. Genesee St., Syracuse, NY 13219
